Kim Haynes Photography bio picture

I am an Oklahoma City based photographer, specializing in natural light portraits of families, children, newborns, high school seniors, and engagement sessions. I recently decided to take on a select number of weddings per year, which I am really excited about! Here at my blog you will find my most recent sessions, any noteworthy news about KHP and random posts about my own little family. Sit back, take a look around and come back often!

KHP Client of the Month

Introducting the KHP Client of the Month program!

In addition, each and every friend of the winner who books a session that month will get the session fee waived AND get a free 8×10 print from their session. That’s a $135 value!

If you have ever thought about booking a KHP session, now is your chance to do it for free AND get a discount for your friends! What could be better?

Obviously, we’re a little late posting this month…But better late than never, right? So, this post serves as the March KHP Client of the Month post. So, go, go, go!! You have until February 21st to enter.

(please note that all entrants must be willing to hold their session during the winning month and live in the OKC area. The winning session may be used for engagements, children, seniors, professionals (headshots) and families up to 5 people)

Kara Jewel - Kim, you used my precious girls to start your website and look where you are now! And Madison made it to the cover of Better Homes and Gardens, Scrapbook Edition because of you submitting it and because of your great photography. I show my kids pictures that you took 2 1/2 years ago because they are such great pics. You are awesome! Just look at how far you have come in 3 years! Just wanted you to know we think you are great!

Ron - Kim you did such a great job on our pictures! I know that even if you don't pick us we'll be calling anyway :) You're very talented!

Liz Smith - Pick me, pick me!!!! ;). Seriously though, you're awesome at what you do! You're great with my kiddos & you make my skin look oh so pretty when you proof!!!

Paige Bearden - Hi Kim. I love your photography. I have never been an official customer, but back in 2006 you took a few pics of my boys to get your portfolio started. I've always wanted you to take pics of all of us (and am willing to drive there to do it). Maybe we can work something out.

Carrie - Love the collage you included here, Kimmy. :) Let this serve as my entry... (Am I allowed to enter?? LOL) Either I will travel to Oklahoma OR (better idea) I have a cute sis who is turning 16 next month. :)

Laurie - Kim, we *heart* you too! You are the most talented photographer I know! We still need photos of our complete family, so count me in! :0)

Melissa - Are you kidding me?? This is THE best idea ever! Can I enter multiple times? ;) What a great surprise this would be for when Tom comes home in April...either way we need to book you for July for baby #2's arrival. Can't wait.

carrie and brad

Have you ever had a friend that was the complete opposite of you? So much so, you often wonder how you’re friends in the first place? Meet Carrie. One of my love-her-to-death-closest-friends. She and I are SO different. Ya see, Care is “high-heel wearing, corporate world working, intelligent, goal oriented, tall, athletic, and beautiful.   I, on the other hand, stay in my pajamas all day, work from home, am simple minded, not so goal oriented, go with the flow, short, totally not athletic and I’m much more on the cute side than the beautiful one.  See….we’re opposites.

But, back in 2002 we were both into scrapbooking and shared our pages online at http://www.twopeasinabucket.com

That is what started 8 years of friendship. Scrapbooking. Who knew? ;) Ever since then we have daily emails, cried and laughed more times than I can count. We’ve both had multiple trips back and forth from OK to TX, trips to San Francisco and Mexico, I even see her family more than I see some of my own! I just love this girl and am so thankful for her friendship.  (and if you know me at all….I must really mean that, because I don’t get all mushy-lovey-dovey that often) Ha!

So anyway, on to the pictures. A few months ago while doing sessions down in Houston I cut out some time for Carrie & Brad. I was excited and knew it would be a good time….Brad is a fun loving guy who has a way of making any situation enjoyable. (he also gives me a “noogie” every time I see him, but that’s beside the point)

Loved this wall:

Now, these next few were so much fun.

Brad: ah, come on honey, let’s take some in the water fountains.

Care: Okay, but let me take my shoes off, I don’t want to get them wet.

Me, to myself: OMG, he’s totally going to put her in the water!!!

0203_9

0203_1

By this point, I kind of had it figured out….she was going in the water, but I really didn’t think he had the “you know whats” to do it. I mean, she was all dolled up and had a nice pretty dress on….. would he??? really?

0203_12

Yes, he did.  And that’s the only shot I got of it…..because I was laughing SO hard!!

I did get some of the apology and name calling though. Ha!

0203_11

I told you he was a fun lovin’ guy. =)

Brad - Kimmie... I have never given you a noogie, but I will give you a gigantic one next time I see you ... since you posted it on your blog it must be true! And I *told* you that I was going to put her in the fountain before she got there -- I just think that you didn't believe me! And the rest of the story is... that after I put Carrie in the fountain as we were coming out Kim said "Secret High Five" to me, trying to high five me without Carrie seeing because she thought it was hilarious but didn't want her friend to know that! LOL

Colby - What a fun set of pictures! I just adore the one on the bench with Carrie lying in Brad's lap! And you're right, Brad must have some BIG you-know-whats to put such a pretty wife in such a pretty dress in the water. Thank goodness she saved her shoes! LOL...

Melissa - You're not kidding! She is gorgeous and they make a stunning couple. LOVE all the photos. So fun and carefree. My favorite is #4. You are ridiculously talented, Kim.

Brenda Elmore - Kim, absolutely perfect!! Love, love the shot of them on the couch with her head in his lap.

Maura Pavlock - I love it!!! You really have your calling in this!!! The best! When I win the lottery I am buying a week of your time!!! :o)

better late than never.

I know, I know. It’s February. I haven’t posted in months and I feel terrible.

Almost as bad as the time the post office lady told me congratulations and asked me when I was due…. when I wasn’t even pregnant. Okay, maybe not that terrible, but really bad! ;)

So, I am making up for that and becoming a blog posting maniac in the next coming weeks. Get ready!

I’ll begin with a few shots of my own kiddos that we used on our Christmas cards this year.  They were taken at the Sante Fe Depot in Shawnee. I had a couple  reasons for doing our session there.  The main one being I would be able to keep Josh’s attention for longer than 5 minutes with the promise of climbing all over the Sante Fe tain car when we were done. After all, the Sante Fe is his absolute favorite. It’s bright red color, the logo that he draws every chance he gets, the Sante Fe diesel engines with the “perfectly round rectangular windows”….makes him crazy. Think Star Wars Convention kind of crazy. ;)   Anyway, so I knew it would work taking him to the train depot….and it did!

0201_2

I know, right? I was SO happy with how that shot turned out…..

0201_4

Julie has a tendancy to be a bit sassy when the camera is on her. ;)

nose to nose….guarantees a good picture:

While I’m sharing, here are a few from last Friday playing in the snow:

I so need to order a big ol’ storyboard of that one for my hallway…. Love it!

What the heck, here’s one more from October. Halloween pics never get old, right?

0201_6

Or do they? ;)

Jim Sanders - You are so awesome! I am so proud of you and your family. I love you dearly.

Beverly Winn - Your work is just fabulous. I enjoyed seeing pictures of your children. I am a former neighbor of Barry's in Snellville, GA. Tell him HI for me.

Malinda - You are so awesome! These pics are fantabulous! You do such amazing work. Your kids are absolutely too cute for words!

Colby - So glad to see you back! Can't tell you how many times I've clicked on the blog expecting to find some Christmas pics. Fabulous pics as always, Kim. I mean really? The top photo? AMAZING work. And Julie always makes me smile the way she cocks her head and plays to the camera. Adorable kids make great photos!

Keshet - Glad you're back to blogging! These photos are stunning! What camera do you use?

Mindee - PERFECT!! Your kids are beautiful -- the depot turned out great.. I love them!

Chris and Cassi

Chris is my youngest cousin and I cannot believe he’s old enough to get married.  It seems like just yesterday he was telling someone to “weeve the wights awone!” as they flipped the switched on and off. (he’s probably going to kill me for saying that) He was seriously the cutest little thing!

He’s still pretty cute, actually….and he’s found himself such a sweet girl, who happens to be really cute herself.

Anyway, onto the pics:

Whoa!

Where in the world did October go?  I don’t think I’ve ever been so busy with traveling, photo sessions and family things as I have been this month. Needless to say, I am so far behind on sharing photos of my clients it’s not even funny. But I’ve got to start somewhere, right?

So, meet the Harris family. We wanted to focus on the little man for his yearly portraits and then sneak in a few of his big sis and a couple family ones for their Christmas card.  Here are just a few:

Carrie - Ah, the one with him on the bridge with his cars is great!! Love that bridge.

family portraits at the state fair?

Do what?? yes, we did and we loved every minute of it. =)  This is one of my favorite families….willing to do anything. So much so when I suggested the fair, they didn’t blink an eye.  So… Barry and I headed out Friday evening (the first day the fair was here actually, so the streets were still clean and it wasn’t too crowded. Bonus!) to meet them and we had a really good time!  Here are a few of my favorites after a really quick run through of the images. (which I have yet to proof, Kelly… please don’t hate me!)

Kim - Love them all! So neat and how original! Too cool!

Aimee - These pictures are amazing. I was at the state fair and it doesn't even look like the same fair! Meaning, you made it look beautiful!

Carrie - These are so freaking fabulous! Love the idea of family photos at the fair. So cool.

KellyK - Thanks for the preview Kim! No worries, there is no hating going on. Take your time. I know you are busy!!

Shannon - Kim, these are some really awesome pics! Kelly will love them!!!

~Kim - What a fabulous idea! Love the one in front of the ferris wheel...you are awesome Kim Haynes!

Eli is One!

Even though I’ve shot this family many times, this was my first time meeting their little man.  Life gets so busy sometimes, ya know? Especially with a newborn. Finding time for pictures doesn’t always end up at the top of the to-do list. But, fitting them in around a first birthday is a must! We hung out at the Myriad Gardens for a bit and then ventured over to my new favorite bridge for a little birthday cake action.

Miss Abbygail

This little family was one of my very first clients back in the day and I’ve had the pleasure of shooting them every year since. They’ve become one of my favorites, so you can imagine my excitement when I got to meet their newest little one.  And let me tell you….she was a sweetheart! Didn’t make a peep and just rolled with it.

I just LOVE this one. The little blanket in the background was her mama’s. Look at that sweet little face!
