Kim Haynes Photography bio picture

I am an Oklahoma City based photographer, specializing in natural light portraits of families, children, newborns, high school seniors, and engagement sessions. I recently decided to take on a select number of weddings per year, which I am really excited about! Here at my blog you will find my most recent sessions, any noteworthy news about KHP and random posts about my own little family. Sit back, take a look around and come back often!

baby jake

This little guy was SO cooperative!  Hardly cried….didn’t need to be fed…wasn’t cranky, slept awhile and then decided to wake up a bit for us.  Now, this was all because his mother was SO prepared!  We’re talking space heater, noise machine, blankets, sweaters….loved her.  Thank you, Alyssa. =)

wedded bliss

I totally enjoyed this session.  These two have been married all of 6 months and are completely in love.  It just oozes from them. ;)   I’m not even close to being finished with this session, but couldn’t wait to share it here. These few just kept jumping out at me!

If you are thinking of having a couples session with me, here are a few pointers:

Melissa & Garland, thank you so much!  I’ll have the rest for you soon!

Kim - Absolutely and completely beautiful Kim. What a beautiful couple.

Kim - Hey there! Love these pics of this cute couple! Great job as always. I know it's been a while, but I have been a bad blogger as well lately. Having some oral surgeries done and all. Sets you back some. Loving all the posts too, Valentines, Carrie and Brad, great to see them in some new pics, adorable couple as always! I cannot believe your kidos, I don't know who told them they could continue to grow, but they need to stop! Precious they are! Daddy's gonna need a big ole' shotgun for Julie, she is growing more beautiful every day! Back off boys! Great to see you blogging again and I hope to be back soon as well. Working on new things, blog, webpage, etc., wanting a new, fresh look! Hopefully, I get it done!

Brenda Elmore - BEAUTIFUL!!! What fun memories for that cute couple!!

Garland - Thank you so very much, Kim, for taking the time to capture a few moments for Mel and I. Yes, Melissa really is the most beautiful person in all this universe....from the very heart. It's the greatest privilege of all, to spend this life in her midst. I cannot wait to see the rest!

Janie Hull - Absolutely beautiful pictures of one of my very best friends. She truly is beautiful inside and out. She deserved Garland. They make a beautiful couple.

Carrie - What a beautiful woman! You can tell what a loving couple they are.

six month old sweetie

I promised her mama I wouldn’t make her wait a whole two weeks without seeing anything, so here’s a sneak-peek just for you!  Thanks so much and I’ll have the rest for you soon!

They win the gold…

…for having the cutest little chubster, EVER. I dare you not to smile while you look through these pics.  I just love this kid!  And his mama is just the sweetest little thing.   We started out our session in a nice little spot, got about 10 frames in before it started raining cats and dogs!  I ended up heading to their house the next morning and got some really great shots! The rain turned out to be a blessing. =)

Valentine DIY

I always love it when a DIY post pops up into my Google Reader. Although, this one isn’t really in depth, hopefully it will get your gears turning. =)

About 2 weeks ago, Josh came home with a note stating his class was having a contest for the best decorated valentine box. I was excited! Josh, not so much. So, I checked around on the net for ideas finding nothing that really tickled my fancy.  After that, it kind of sat on the back burner until the weekend before. Of course it did! I’m a huge procrastinator. (it’s my mother’s fault…)

I finally decided on a monster with a big mouth. Not too original I’m sure, but I knew it could be cute. We sprayed the box black, hit up Michaels for pom-poms, pipe cleaners, googly- eyes and the like. We came home and stuck everything on. (okay so maybe it was me and Julie moreso than Josh….he really hates crafts of any kind) Josh did help me glitter the heart antennas though. =)

Behold:

ValentineBox

Cute, right?? And……he won first place. =)  Yay! Go, me! (I mean Josh.)

So, onto the next project. Last night, again…the night before her party, I scanned an old vintage Valentine and ironed it on a shirt for Julie.

Valentine1

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well…..If you don’t count the hour it took trying to get it printed out. Or time time wasted ironing it onto a BLACK shirt. FYI, you need special transfer paper made for dark shirts if you actually want the image to show up. HA! Anyway, second time was a charm. =) Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

Valentine2

By the way, thanks SO much to those of you who have entered the March Client of the Month contest on the post below! =)

Kim - The monster box? FANTASTIC. The tshirt? BRILLIANT. I want them both for myself:) Great job Mama.

Liz Smith - Love it! Very creative on the box & I love the shirt! May have to try that myself!

Heather Crawford - Very cute..LOVE that shirt..great idea! I did a box similar for my son... http://heathercrawford.typepad.com/lean_in/2010/02/the-love-monster-becomes-a-reality.html

Kim - Look at you crafty girl! Remember when you used to do stuff like that all the time? Now none of us have time for that! : ) Love Julie's shirt...did you just buy the iron on paper stuff? The possibilities are endless! I'm thinking I *heart* KH shirts are in order for everyone! : )

Malinda - So cute, Kim! Love the pics! You are so crafty!

Barry - #5,633 why you're a great mom :).

Carrie - Ahhhhhhh, how sweet is bhay? <3

carrie and brad

Have you ever had a friend that was the complete opposite of you? So much so, you often wonder how you’re friends in the first place? Meet Carrie. One of my love-her-to-death-closest-friends. She and I are SO different. Ya see, Care is “high-heel wearing, corporate world working, intelligent, goal oriented, tall, athletic, and beautiful.   I, on the other hand, stay in my pajamas all day, work from home, am simple minded, not so goal oriented, go with the flow, short, totally not athletic and I’m much more on the cute side than the beautiful one.  See….we’re opposites.

But, back in 2002 we were both into scrapbooking and shared our pages online at http://www.twopeasinabucket.com

That is what started 8 years of friendship. Scrapbooking. Who knew? ;) Ever since then we have daily emails, cried and laughed more times than I can count. We’ve both had multiple trips back and forth from OK to TX, trips to San Francisco and Mexico, I even see her family more than I see some of my own! I just love this girl and am so thankful for her friendship.  (and if you know me at all….I must really mean that, because I don’t get all mushy-lovey-dovey that often) Ha!

So anyway, on to the pictures. A few months ago while doing sessions down in Houston I cut out some time for Carrie & Brad. I was excited and knew it would be a good time….Brad is a fun loving guy who has a way of making any situation enjoyable. (he also gives me a “noogie” every time I see him, but that’s beside the point)

Loved this wall:

Love how happy they look in these next two:

0203_5

Now, these next few were so much fun.

Brad: ah, come on honey, let’s take some in the water fountains.

Care: Okay, but let me take my shoes off, I don’t want to get them wet.

Me, to myself: OMG, he’s totally going to put her in the water!!!

0203_9

0203_1

By this point, I kind of had it figured out….she was going in the water, but I really didn’t think he had the “you know whats” to do it. I mean, she was all dolled up and had a nice pretty dress on….. would he??? really?

0203_12

Yes, he did.  And that’s the only shot I got of it…..because I was laughing SO hard!!

I did get some of the apology and name calling though. Ha!

0203_11

I told you he was a fun lovin’ guy. =)

Maura Pavlock - I love it!!! You really have your calling in this!!! The best! When I win the lottery I am buying a week of your time!!! :o)

Brenda Elmore - Kim, absolutely perfect!! Love, love the shot of them on the couch with her head in his lap.

Melissa - You're not kidding! She is gorgeous and they make a stunning couple. LOVE all the photos. So fun and carefree. My favorite is #4. You are ridiculously talented, Kim.

Colby - What a fun set of pictures! I just adore the one on the bench with Carrie lying in Brad's lap! And you're right, Brad must have some BIG you-know-whats to put such a pretty wife in such a pretty dress in the water. Thank goodness she saved her shoes! LOL...

Brad - Kimmie... I have never given you a noogie, but I will give you a gigantic one next time I see you ... since you posted it on your blog it must be true! And I *told* you that I was going to put her in the fountain before she got there -- I just think that you didn't believe me! And the rest of the story is... that after I put Carrie in the fountain as we were coming out Kim said "Secret High Five" to me, trying to high five me without Carrie seeing because she thought it was hilarious but didn't want her friend to know that! LOL

Owen - Really Great shots Kim, as usual!! --- Imagine Bradley tossing Carrie in a fountain; Who would of thought? (Everybody except Carrie...)
