Next, some exciting news:

Our little family of four will become a fabulous family of five in January!  We are thrilled.  So….while beginning work on a new house this fall, homeschooling Joshua, being busier than ever with KHP we’ll be adding a little bit more crazy to the mix.  Nothing we can’t handle, right?

When Barry and I told the kids, we didn’t really know how they would take the news. Josh’s first reaction was to worry about me and began asking if I was going to be okay and how much it would hurt. (I know, Sweet Boy, right?)   Julie on the other hand, said the cutest thing ever.  While placing both hands on her face on either side of her smile, she said “I knew this day would come! I knew this day would come!!!”  I just about died.  She’s a mess.

Speaking of my new little kindergartner, here are a few pictures I took during a photoshoot I did for the Jr. League of OKC’s book drive. Kind of nice having a cute little model in house, huh?

Whew! I feel a little bit better and a tad caught up. Although, I have TONS of sessions to share. Be on the lookout. =)

I just love shooting with Kelly, she is nothing short of amazing.  Maybe she will share some of the images she took on her blog soon. (hint hint, Kel!)  I haven’t had a chance to go through all of the images from the day yet, but these jumped out at me after my first run through.

Anyway, onto the fun stuff!

They decided not to see each other before the wedding, but Cassi really wanted to talk to him before ceremony, so we used the door to the dressing room. Such a sweet little moment:

I plan on framing this one at my own house. This is my Grandma Ernie.  I just love how she got tickled over something and is hugging Chris. She and Chris have a really special relationship, I’m so glad to have captured a photo like this.

Josh was dead set on a “train party” and Julie agreed as long as she could have a pink train balloon.  Really? Where on earth would I find such a thing…? I’ll tell you… www.trainparty.com, that’s where.  They have everything you could ever want. (except for cool cupcake/cake toppers…I had to improvise for those.)

First off, here is I sent out to the guests. Found it on etsy. I mean really, for $10 dollars? awesome.

I searched high and low for some non-cheesy-non-thomas cake toppers, but couldn’t find any.  So I decided to make my own.  =)  I printed Josh’s favorite railroads (what, don’t YOU have a favorite railroad??), cut them out and put them onto toothpics. Even made Julie a hot-pink railroad crossing. I helped my mom ice them and they turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself. =)

I had big plans for these train suckers I found.  Just picture them with cute little tags that say “Thanks for coming, it would have sucked without you!” I know, cute right?? But, I ran out of time and just said it as I handed them out instead.

Here they are making their wishes…..as you can tell, they take them VERY seriously.

Btw, see that hat Josh has on? A gift from my mom…. she found the “trainman” pin on Ebay and knew Josho had to have it, after all that’s what he calls himself.   Pair it with a canvas conductor type hat from Target and she had the perfect gift. SO, thoughful.  Thanks, Mom!!

Since we partied it up on Josh’s birthday I felt I needed to do something special for Julie on Sunday so big stacks of pancakes were in order…Nine for Josh and 5 for Julie.  As you can see….she was quite impressed. =)

About 2 weeks ago, Josh came home with a note stating his class was having a contest for the best decorated valentine box. I was excited! Josh, not so much. So, I checked around on the net for ideas finding nothing that really tickled my fancy.  After that, it kind of sat on the back burner until the weekend before. Of course it did! I’m a huge procrastinator. (it’s my mother’s fault…)

I finally decided on a monster with a big mouth. Not too original I’m sure, but I knew it could be cute. We sprayed the box black, hit up Michaels for pom-poms, pipe cleaners, googly- eyes and the like. We came home and stuck everything on. (okay so maybe it was me and Julie moreso than Josh….he really hates crafts of any kind) Josh did help me glitter the heart antennas though. =)

So, onto the next project. Last night, again…the night before her party, I scanned an old vintage Valentine and ironed it on a shirt for Julie.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well…..If you don’t count the hour it took trying to get it printed out. Or time time wasted ironing it onto a BLACK shirt. FYI, you need special transfer paper made for dark shirts if you actually want the image to show up. HA! Anyway, second time was a charm. =) Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

Almost as bad as the time the post office lady told me congratulations and asked me when I was due…. when I wasn’t even pregnant. Okay, maybe not that terrible, but really bad!

So, I am making up for that and becoming a blog posting maniac in the next coming weeks. Get ready!

I’ll begin with a few shots of my own kiddos that we used on our Christmas cards this year.  They were taken at the Sante Fe Depot in Shawnee. I had a couple  reasons for doing our session there.  The main one being I would be able to keep Josh’s attention for longer than 5 minutes with the promise of climbing all over the Sante Fe tain car when we were done. After all, the Sante Fe is his absolute favorite. It’s bright red color, the logo that he draws every chance he gets, the Sante Fe diesel engines with the “perfectly round rectangular windows”….makes him crazy. Think Star Wars Convention kind of crazy.   Anyway, so I knew it would work taking him to the train depot….and it did!

I know, right? I was SO happy with how that shot turned out…..

Julie has a tendancy to be a bit sassy when the camera is on her.

Like this one that we took as a gift for their Grandma Georgia’s birthday. As most photographers will say, getting good “portraits” of their own children is a task. And boy was this a task. But it was totally worth it, don’t you think?

That first one? Yeah, I plan on getting a huge print of it to hang somewhere in our home.  (I just need to find an empty wall… Good luck with that.)
